PENGARUH PELAKSAAN BATUK EFEKTIF PADA PASIEN POST OP LAPARATOMY TERHADAP BERSIHAN JALAN NAFAS DI BANGSAL BEDAH RS TK IV CIJANTUNG KESDAM JAYA TAHUN 2022

Background: Coughing is very common in clients undergoing surgery under general anesthesia. Apart from the effects of anesthesia, coughing is also caused by installing a breathing apparatus which causes the client to feel uncomfortable because he feels a lot of thick mucus in his throat. Effective coughing exercises are very useful for clients after surgery to remove mucus or secretions so that the airway is cleared.
Research Objective: The aim is to find out whether there is an effect of effective coughing in post-op laparotomy patients on airway clearance in the surgical ward.
Methods :The research uses a quantitative research design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 30 respondents taken using total sampling technique. The family support instrument uses an observation sheet for the airway clearance variable. The correlation test in this study used the Wilcokson test.
Results: Research results Most of the respondents were aged 46-55 years with 12 respondents (40%), male gender as many as 16 respondents (53.3%), had self-employed jobs as many as 15 respondents (50%), and as many as 15 respondents had a high school education. (50%) . The Wilcokson test results showed a p value of 0.00<0.05.
Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of effective coughing in post-op laparotomy patients on airway clearance in the surgical ward.
